Make a Memory

  • Free
  • Family and kids

A small moment becomes part of something bigger at State Library Victoria.

Create a keepsake inspired by the book, These Long-Loved Things by Josh Pyke and Ronojoy Ghosh at a free drop-in craft session.

Construct your own photo frame, then fill it with a memory that matters to you – a favourite place, a beloved object, a person, a feeling or a fleeting moment. Draw it, write it or let your imagination wander.

When your memory feels just right, you can take your frame home and keep it close or add it to our growing installation at the Library. See how your small story sits alongside others to create a shared artwork of long-loved things.

Perfect for children aged 5-12 years. Please note: A parent or carer must attend this activity for the entire duration with their child/children.

This session runs between 1-4pm. No bookings are required, drop in anytime.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
