Laurence Driscoll: Gay for Pay Cheque

  • Comedy
  • Cabaret

Laurence has spent his working life being the likeable one – the colleague who lightens the mood, smooths tension, and keeps the office running on goodwill.

Now in his 40s, that role no longer feels secure or sufficient. As enthusiasm fades and patience wears thin, he’s forced to confront an uncomfortable question: what skills does he actually have?

This stand-up comedy show charts his reckoning with being a 'personality hire' and the uneasy process of reassessing identity, work, and self-worth. Honest, dryly funny, and sharply observed, it speaks to anyone who’s ever questioned how they ended up where they are.

Part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
