Historic Bluestone Building Tour

  • Tour
  • Culture

For more than 160 years, the Bluestone Building has held an important place in Deaf education and community life in Victoria. This tour shares stories of Deaf culture, language, learning and legacy within one of Melbourne’s most striking heritage buildings, offering visitors an experience that is both thoughtful and memorable.

Tailored for primary and secondary schools, university groups, history enthusiasts, community groups and workplace teams, the Bluestone Tours offer a meaningful way to connect with Melbourne’s social and cultural history. Each guided visit runs for approximately one hour and can include Auslan guided options to support accessibility and inclusion.

All proceeds from tours support Deaf Children Australia programs, helping strengthen connection, opportunity and belonging for deaf and hard of hearing children and young people. Bookings are now open for schools, organisations and community groups.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
