Guided by Jessep Walk, 75 Years On

This walk follows some of the recommended walking routes set out by former Director of the Melbourne Botanic Gardens, Alexander Jessep in his compact yet very informative guide to the Gardens, published in 1951. Along the way you will look at some of the plants and built structures that Jessep highlighted and compare his descriptions and photographs with the same places as we see them now.

Jane Bennett is the convenor of the Friends’ Photography Group. A local resident, she continues to learn about and share images of the Gardens through visiting and taking photographs there on a regular basis, including during the monthly photography group activities.
