Winter School Holidays at Melbourne Museum

  • Family and kids
  • Activity

Budding makers can experiment with design, symbolism and storytelling through immersive and hands-on activities inspired by ancient Rome and the exhibition Rome: Empire. Power, People.

School holiday highlights include:
- Discover a world four billion years in the making in the new Our Wondrous Planet exhibition.
- Creative Lab: Rise of the Gladiators, where children shape their own gladiator identity through craft and play.
- Mosaic Monuments, a free school holiday activity where children colour their own mosaic tile and add it to a growing participatory artwork.
- Museum Sleepovers return these school holidays giving families exclusive after‑hours access to Melbourne Museum and IMAX before settling in for a night sleeping beneath the dinosaurs.
- Tiny Tours is a program specially designed for younger children to discover the animals and habitats that make our planet extraordinary.
- Dino Days, the museum’s much‑loved free weekly event for budding palaeontologists.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.
