Taglietti: Life in Design

  • Free
  • Art

This exhibition explores the life and legacy of Italian-born architect Enrico Taglietti, whose career spanned Europe, East Africa, America and Australia. Migrating to Australia in the mid-20th century, he brought a humanist sensibility that embedded landscape, cultural context and community into his work. His practice extended across architecture, interiors, landscape, photography and graphic design.

Revisiting Taglietti’s work positions him as a key figure in the story of migrant architects shaping Australia’s built environment, while highlighting his rich engagement with interiors in the 1960s and 70s, seen in projects like the St Kilda Public Library.

At a time when speed dominates design, Taglietti’s work reminds us of the value of compassion, cultural heritage and generosity, demonstrating how architecture can create meaning beyond function.
