Mosaic Monuments

  • Family and kids
  • Activity

Discover towering ruins of ancient Rome in the museum foyer where a series of free-standing columns stand as quiet reminders of a grand structure long lost to time.

Help reawaken these ruins by adding colourful, mosaic-inspired designs to their surfaces. Every tile, pattern, and splash of colour contributes to a vibrant, ever-changing artwork created by our community.

Perfect for all ages, this drop-in activity encourages creativity, imagination, and a little hands-on history. Discover the stories of ancient Rome and help transform the museum foyer into a living mosaic of the past, celebrating the exhibition Rome: Empire, Power, People – one colourful tile at a time.

Activity included with museum entry.

We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.
