Marathon Hamlet

  • Theatre
  • Entertainment

Marathon Hamlet is a bold, site-specific reimagining of Hamlet, staged across three National Trust heritage sites in Melbourne: Pentridge Prison, the Old Melbourne Gaol and Como House.

The five acts unfold in sequence across the day, with the performer playing Hamlet physically running between each location, completing a full marathon as the narrative progresses. The result is a durational work that fuses endurance sport with live performance, placing the physical strain of the body alongside the psychological demands of the role.

Audiences can attend a single venue or follow the full journey, encountering a version of Shakespeare that is immediate, embodied and ... rather mad.
