Kiran Deol: Assault on Comedy

  • Comedy
  • Theatre

Kiran Deol, an Emmy nominated storyteller, performs her latest comedy hour.

In December 2022, Kiran Deol, an Indian-American comedian, is hospitalised following a horrifying, unprovoked attack outside a 7-Eleven. Yes, there are fractures and surgeries – but in front of a 7-Eleven!? At least be original and do it in front of a Coles. But that’s not all: they caught the guy.

A court case ensues and the tables are turned: Kiran is asked by the judge whether she wants her attacker to be incarcerated in prison or receive treatment for mental health issues, in what becomes an ironic and compelling twist...

As a stand-up, Kiran was named one of Entertainment Weekly’s Top 10 Comics and featured in Vogue India and Variety. Joysuck, her debut comedy special is now streaming on Amazon Prime and her videos have millions of views on instagram.
