Julius von Bismarck: This Is Not the Storm

  • Free
  • Art

ACCA presents This Is Not the Storm, the first Australian solo exhibition by German artist Julius von Bismarck.

Featuring kinetic sculptures, photography, and large-scale video installations, the exhibition brings together over 20 years of the artist’s work – much of it never before shown in Australia. Known for his distinctive blend of humour and critical insight, von Bismarck explores how we understand and define the natural world, revealing 'nature' as something shaped by human ideas and influence.

From altered everyday objects to projects created in remote and extreme environments, his work invites audiences to question what is real and to reflect on our relationship with the environment. In doing so, the exhibition highlights the impact of human activity on the planet and encourages a deeper consideration of the systems that shape our world today.

Curated by Dr Shelley McSpedden.

ACCA thanks the Goethe-Institut Australia for their support of this exhibition.
