STEM Holiday Workshop for Young People: Auslan and English

  • Free
  • Family and kids

Delivered by a team of facilitators in both Auslan and English, this workshop is suited to D/deaf and Hard of Hearing young people, along with their siblings.

Make creative tactile circuits using basic block coding and the most unlikely materials! Your challenge will be to use Makey Makey kits and Microsoft MakeCode Arcade to design a fun, interactive video game.

Please note the following:
All participants, including siblings, must be aged 10-17 years old.
Hearing siblings and CODAs may attend.

Children must be dropped off in-person by their parent or caregiver on the day and they will be asked to sign a consent form allowing their child’s participation. Once the workshop has begun, parents and caregivers are not required to stay in the workshop but are asked to remain in the vicinity of Science Gallery.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
