Sarah Ackland: Journey with the Pencil

  • Free
  • Art

Journey with the Pencil is a body of artwork that started off as a study of tone to improve Sarah Ackland's watercolour painting, became a passion, resulting in a collection of detailed drawings of mostly trees, landscapes and botanical work in graphite.

This exhibition is a collection of work that has been created over the last couple of years with the fascination of striving to push the boundaries of graphite and enjoying what the medium has to offer. During this journey Sarah has found that when colour is taken away and the image is reduced to line and tone, much strength and subtleness can be achieved.
