Melbourne in Retrospect Exhibition

  • Free
  • Art

James Tyrrell, of Harper & Charlie, captures Melbourne in a way that connects deeply to the city’s story and our shared memories. Drawing on archival photographs of buildings and places - some long gone but not forgotten - the Melbourne-based illustrator reimagines the city’s evolving landscape in a style reminiscent of vintage travel posters. His works feature beloved icons such as Flinders Street Station, the State Library of Victoria and the neon-lit 'Skipping Girl Vinegar' sign, alongside lesser-known buildings lost to development.

Throughout his career, James has worked with global brands across travel, apparel and large-scale architectural projects, and has been shortlisted multiple times for the AOI World Illustration Awards.
