Hitherto

Hitherto is a play about two nameless beings who stumble through an absurd, familiar, but distant world where the constant threat of meaning masks the forgotten joy of playing. They shift between master and servant, observer and observed, predator and prey, whilst slipping in and out of confession, accusation, philosophy, and brilliant stupidity.

Comically unsettling and unapologetically absurd, Hitherto asks what remains when certainty dissolves and existence itself becomes theatre. Equal parts existential inquiry and theatrical seduction, this play invites audiences to witness themselves from somewhere just beyond themselves.

Part of Melbourne Fringe Festival, this is the inaugural production by Gen X re-born ragtags, The Zof Agenda.
