Gimin Taiko
Gimin Taiko is a traditional Japanese taiko performance created to honour the Gimin farmers who stood up for justice and protected their communities during peasant uprisings in the Edo period(1603–1868). Through powerful drumming, Gimin Taiko conveys their courage, spirit, and determination, preserving their legacy for future generations.
This performance is also a celebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Japan–Australia Friendship and Cooperation.
All the way from Nagano, Japan, the performers are bringing their drums to Melbourne to share their passion and music.
