Festa Junina and World Cup Screening: Brazil vs Haiti

  • Community
  • Events

This year, Abrisa brings you two great Brazilian traditions in one celebration, Festa Junina and a live screening of the soccer World Cup match between Brazil and Haiti.

Festa Junina was introduced by the Portuguese in Brazil during the Colonial period and is celebrated nationwide during June as part of the Brazilian midwinter celebrations. Various aspects of the festival
originate from the European midsummer celebrations and include pennant flags, great Brazilian street food, live music and dance. Many of these celebrations now occur with influence from Brazilian rural society.

In Melbourne, Abrisa replicate this culture with flags, dress code of the country and the traditional dances which everybody can join in.

And of course, the Brazilian soccer tradition will be in full force with a live screening of the Brazil vs Haiti match at 11am in the morning.
