  • Family and kids

Celebrate Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead) at Federation Square. The free, family-friendly event brings to life one of Mexico’s most cherished traditions – a colourful celebration of remembrance, love and joy.

Experience the vibrant Ofrenda (altar) exhibition, the Mexican craft market featuring pan de muerto, face painting and kids’ activities, and delicious bites from food trucks. Enjoy live performances on the main stage from 3pm, featuring Mexbourne, Los Románticos and Trago Amargo.

Don’t miss the Caminata de Catrinas, departing from State Library Victoria at 2pm and arriving at Federation Square for more music, dance and festivities.

Dress up in your best Catrina attire – there will be prizes for the most creative looks.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
