Dave Hole

After ten albums, world tours, a NAIRD and an ARIA, Dave Hole is regarded as one of the all-time slide guitar greats. Metallica's Kirk Hammett has named Hole as one of his favourite guitarists.

Either by accident or by fate, Hole broke his finger in a football game. The only way he could continue to play the guitar without pain was to put a slide on his index finger and play from over the top of the guitar neck. When his finger eventually healed, he had become so fond of the tone from the 'wrong' way of playing that he never turned back.

After gigging non-stop he produced Short Fuse Blues. On a whim he mailed a copy to Jas Obrecht, then editor of American Guitar Player magazine. Obrecht raved about it, tipping off Alligator Records president Bruce Iglauer, who then released it worldwide.
