Apocalypses offers a first look at Olivia Lennon’s deeply researched and conceptually driven figurative oil painting practice, exploring the poetics of collapse.
The works are based on a relational research project conducted by Lennon throughout 2025, during which she interviewed over 90 members of the Melbourne CBD public about their conception of our era of polycrisis. In combination with her own reading on historical apocalypses and cataclysmic revelation, these perspectives from the public form an archive that Lennon mines for use in her painting practice.
The series of oil paintings present floating objects that speak to threat, protection, exposure and intrusion, painted with a focus on the seductive optical qualities of metal, glass and fabric.
Come along to the opening on Friday 14 August, 6pm to 8pm.
