The grand, ornate domed interior of 333 Collins Street building, with a red poppy projection on the ceiling.

Remembrance Day at 333 Collins

  • Free
  • Art

Built in 1891 as the grand banking chamber for the Commercial Bank of Australia, the heritage Dome at 333 Collins Street is one of Melbourne's most striking architectural landmarks. Designed by Lloyd Tayler and Alfred Dunn, its soaring Italian Baroque dome, gilded columns, and ornate arches have graced the building's entrance for over 130 years.

This Remembrance Day, the space is transformed into a moving tribute. From 8am to 12pm, the lights beneath the Dome will be switched off entirely, giving way to a live animated poppy projection across its historic interior.

At 11am, the Last Post will be played and a minute's silence will be observed in honour of those who served and sacrificed. RSL representatives will be on-site selling poppies and merchandise, with all proceeds supporting the RSL.

All are welcome to pause, reflect, and pay tribute beneath one of Melbourne's grandest historic interiors.
