Nongkrong Festival: The Dome at Gerhana

  • Music
  • Entertainment

In the Dome of Mission to Seafarers, Gerhana presents three live acts that bring visibility to the invisible architecture of time, ancestry, loss, and continuity through sound. This event invites you to make collective noise, and listen to the experimental sounds of the diaspora that have been shaped by Country, relationship and movement.

A gerhana, or an eclipse, is the moment when time becomes visible. In Javanese cosmology, Batara Kala is the devouring god that moves through all things, usually unseen, but always present. In Java, people respond to gerhana by making noise together: beating drums, banging pots, shouting at the sky.

The lineup features Ria Soemardjo with Keshav Yoganathan, Excited State!!! and Sundialll (Indonesia/Taiwan).

This event is the ticketed component of Nongkrong's Gerhana, a full-day takeover of Mission to Seafarers which is free and open to all ages.
