Margaret Ackland: Reflections

  • Free
  • Art

In her forthcoming exhibition Reflections, Margaret Ackland continues her sustained inquiry into the collision of domestic life and societal troubles.

Within the exuberant colour and delicate detail of her signature large-scale still lifes, replete with flowers in full bloom, fine tablecloths, gleaming glassware and the reassuring blue and white of Spode, the artist weaves her deft insight into the often fraught and precarious nature of contemporary life. What appears calm, elegant and ordered conceals uncertainty and distress.

Ackland once again brings deeply sensitive observations of the complexity of human experience to the table, encouraging viewers to interrogate their own perceptions of the fragile balance between the personal and the political.
