Beijing and Utrecht based theatre maker and artist Ran Chen brings her fascination with cute animal videos ignited in the pandemic to Tiny, Fluffy, Sweet for a limited season full of heart, humour and biting cultural insight. Why are we so hypnotised by cuteness? And what does cuteness do to our hearts, minds and society at large?
Tiny Fluffy Sweet dives into Chen’s unorthodox research into cuteness and shares her findings. By collecting the various elements that make up cuteness, repeatedly testing the boundary between cuteness and un-cuteness in a lab, and re-enacting how people respond to cuteness, Chen explores the long-underestimated complexity of our human emotional experience of cute things.
