The Capitol Theatre, now celebrating 100 years of cultural excellence, is hosting a powerful tribute to classic cinema and live music.

The Capitol Theatre Orchestra will open the afternoon with a spirited performance of 1920s-style jazz, setting the stage for a screening of the classic movie, The Sound of Music (1965).

Revived as part of the Capitol’s centenary celebrations, The Capitol Orchestra reclaims its historic role, echoing the vibrant sounds that once filled theatres across the world. The original Capitol Theatre Orchestra debuted in 1924 during The Capitol’s grand opening and now, 100 years later, it’s back to recapture the magic of the roaring 1920s.
