Making a Monster

  • Free
  • Workshop

Monsters are metaphors for real fears - society’s fears, and our own. How do we create a good monster story?

Monsters can help us reclaim cruel stereotypes, or can give a face to our own terrors. What do you want most, and why does that scare you? What do you fear most, and why does it want you?

Bring some materials to take notes and sketches. While the workshop will talk about reclaiming our personal fears as inspiration for spooky stories, it will avoid delving into traumatic experiences.

Bookings not required.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.
