Leave the Light On

  • Festival
  • Theatre

The only thing harder than leaving home is coming back.

Leave the Light On is a completely improvised full-length play about a family member's return after a long time gone. Will it be a sigh of relief, or a cause for concern? Will the family praise the prodigal's return, or make them wish they never did? Will they stay... or leave for good?

Created by Domeka Parker (Deep End Theater – Portland, Oregon) and having resonated with audiences internationally, Leave the Light On now plays down under at Melbourne Fringe Festival for the first time. Inside an Aussie home-life, this show explores the relationships within a fractured family, from the poignantly dramatic to the absurd, all on the spot.

Leave the Light On casts Melbourne's most experienced and talented improvisers. Will they devise a heart-warming or heart-wrenching story? One thing’s for sure: whether this home is reunited or divided, you will leave with a new outlook on the constant in everyone’s lives – family.
