Discover the deep ties between this iconic green space and the Second World War, marking 80 years since its end in 2025.

You’ll uncover the stories behind significant plantings, delve into the architectural features that shape the Reserve, and gain fresh insights into one of Melbourne’s most significant cultural landmarks. After the tour, relax over morning tea as you soak in the surrounds.

Perfect for history buffs, cultural explorers and green thumbs alike, this tour offers a unique way to see the Shrine Reserve.

A moderate level of fitness is required for this tour. It involves walking on both paved and grassed areas with some small inclines. Covered and comfortable walking shoes are recommended.

Come with a hat, sunscreen and water in hot weather. In the event of extreme weather, you will be contacted by the Shrine.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
