A Butterfly Story: A Garden Activity for Kids

  • Free
  • Family and kids

These school holidays, flap your wings to find your way to the Test Garden at Fed Square, to learn all about butterflies.

Pick up a set of colouring pencils and an activity sheet in the Atrium and follow the map to the Test Garden – located on top of the Fed Square car park.

In springtime, there will be lots of butterflies in the Test Garden, looking for pollen in the many freshly blooming flowers. Search for the different butterflies in the garden, to learn all about these amazing insects.

You might find the Australian Painted Lady Butterfly, a migratory butterfly that heads south in the spring as the weather warms up.

Learn about how butterfly wings are more than just fancy clothes – and what their special markings and colours can tell us.

What would your wings look like, if you were a butterfly? Share your drawing for your chance to win.

Presented as part of RESET: a free festival for greener living at Fed Square.
