Professor Peter Tregear OAM shares insights from his compelling biography of Fritz Bennicke Hart (1874–1949), a prolific composer, conductor, and educator whose profound influence on Australian musical life included years of teaching and leadership at VAS’s own Conservatorium.

Dr Julie Cotter discusses her latest work on the trailblazing artist and activist Portia Geach, the first Australian woman accepted into the Royal Academy of Arts in London. A dedicated exhibitor at VAS from 1901 to 1955, Geach remains a towering figure in Australian art history.
