Making her acting debut, musician Benee stars alongside Ed Oxenbould (The Visit) in Head South, a touching New Zealand coming of age set in the intoxicating scene of 70s post-punk.
Christchurch, Aotearoa New Zealand, 1979. During a fortnight with his world-weary father, Angus (Oxenbould) is drawn to the underground post-punk music scene. Desperate to fit in with this magnetic subculture and avoid the doldrums of the city, he lies about his musical talents and feigns starting a band. Caught in the lie, Angus and his friends, especially the talented Kirsten (Benee), navigate tragedy, self-doubt, and derision to take the stage for the first time.
