Glimpses of Anna May Wong in Australia

  • Film
  • Entertainment

Join a Screen Presence two-part event celebrating the legacy of Anna May Wong. It begins with a screening of rare newsreels from her visits to Australia (1937–1941), with historian Peter Hack providing context and commentary on Wong’s impact and the cultural climate of the time.

In the second session, acclaimed actress Fiona Choi reflects on how Wong’s pioneering career has influenced her own work as a Chinese Australian performer.

This personal talk will be followed by a Q&A.
Enjoy light refreshments and networking with fellow guests to close the afternoon.
