Asian Cinema Collective Presents: Dìdi (2024)

  • Entertainment

Set in the summer of 2008, Didi is the debut feature film of Oscar-nominated filmmaker, Sean Wang, that captures the beauty and awkwardness of adolescence in the early internet era. The film follows 13 year-old Taiwanese American, Chris Wang, as he navigates friendships, love and heartache in the final weeks of summer before high school. Caught between his immigrant family’s expectations and the freedom of online culture, Chris spends his summer break making YouTube videos with his friends and speaking to his crush on AIM – all while clashing with his mother (the iconic Joan Chen) and Paramore loving sister who is about to leave for college.
