Artist Talk: Stephen Tierney

  • Free
  • Art

Join West End Art Space on International Collage Day for an artist talk with Stephen Tierney, whose current exhibition, A Wonderful Life, explores the contradictions inherent in society’s pursuit of happiness through the medium of collage.

Drawing inspiration from 1950s and '60s photojournalism, Tierney juxtaposes idealised images of joy with powerful depictions of social unrest, sexism, and war. The resulting works offer a compelling commentary on inequality, conflict, and the illusion of progress.

This talk will provide insight into the artist’s conceptual and material processes, and offer an opportunity to reflect on the role of collage as a critical tool in contemporary art practice.
