Yerambooee

Two families meet in a collaborative ceremony called Yerambooee. Wurundjeri, Woi-Wurrung and Yolngu from North East Arnhem Land present a gathering of song, ceremony and dance on an enormous sand circle in Fed Square, open and free to the public.

This event captures the essence of traditional and contemporary ceremony with ritual, dance, and interaction. The public will be welcomed and introduced to many aspects and meanings of dances and songs by Wurundjeri, and Yolngu.

Led and hosted by senior elder Aunty Joy Murphy and Arnhem Land senior law man Don Wininba, Yolŋu and Wurundjeri performers will open your world to a unique and epic experience celebrating the iconic legends of Gurrumul and Barak.

Aunty Joy explains Yerambooee as 'A historical cultural event where moorook nareen narkwarren skin name family come together to honour legendary artists Wurundjeri Ngurungaeta William Barak and Yolgnu son Geoffrey Gurrumul'.
