East Timor Women Australia (ETWA), in partnership with the Burke Gallery at Trinity College, University of Melbourne presents this collaborative exhibition celebrating generations of cultural knowledge, creativity, and resilience.
The exhibition honours Timor-Leste’s journey to independence and showcases its history and traditions through the vibrant weaving culture and traditional handwoven textiles of the LO'UD women-run cooperative. It highlights the cultural arts' power to inspire and connect, reflecting the solidarity between communities in Australia and Timor-Leste. It also features captivating photographs by Elaine Briere, Sally Gray, and Ross Bird, with immersive sound and video design by Marcus Salvagno.
Exhibition opening night 19 September 6:30pm to 8:30pm; free but bookings required.
