Shuck and Stitch

During Melbourne Fashion Week, join artist and designer Louise Marson for an inspiring behind-the-scenes talk about her striking shop-window installation at the iconic Queen Victoria Market.

Louise’s bold, thought-provoking collection transforms discarded oyster farm remnants and market waste into high-fashion garments that shimmer with raw texture, circular design, and local ingenuity. Her work celebrates sustainability while confronting the fragile future of oyster reef ecosystems and the environmental impact of invasive colonial species.

Hear how detritus becomes couture, discover the surprising beauty in overlooked materials, and leave inspired to see fashion and our oceans in a whole new light.
