Sea Shanties and Folk Songs

  • Free
  • Comedy

If you like singing and want to try something new, then come down to the Mission to Seafarers for a free rollicking singalong of shanties, folk songs, work songs and drinking songs, every Thursday.

No shanty experience or singing ability is needed, and newcomers are very welcome.

These spirited songs are easy to learn, so you can join in with the refrains and choruses, and even lead a song yourself. If needed, there’s an ample amount of liquid courage at the bar.

Purchasing drinks and snacks from the bar also encouraged to support the mission in providing assistance to seafarers.

Groups (up to a maximum of ten only) should contact the venue by phone.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.

We accept the invitation in the Uluru Statement from the Heart and are committed to walking together to build a better future. For more information, visit Aboriginal Melbourne.
