School Holiday Workshop: Oracles, Omens & Oak Leaves
These school holidays, step into the mysterious world of ancient Greek oracles in a playful, hands-on workshop designed for young Argonauts. As part of their adventure, children will journey through the Rituals: Gifts for the Gods exhibition to uncover how people thousands of years ago tried to glimpse the future, by asking questions of the gods and interpreting signs from the world around them.
Along the way, they'll handle genuine ancient artefacts and learn the secrets of the Pythia, the priestess who spoke for Apollo himself. From sacred temples to strange rituals, discover how oracles worked and why ancient Greeks turned to the divine for answers.
To finish, everyone will create their very own ‘wheel of fortune’ to take home — a playful tool for answering life’s big (or small) questions.
