RISING: Space-out Competition

  • Free
  • Family and kids

Space-out Competition is a performance art event by South Korean artist Woopsyang that invites audiences to engage in a 90-minute public practice of doing nothing, competitively.

Contestants must remain spaced out for 90 minutes. Those who engage in conversation, check their phone, move around or fall asleep will be eliminated from the competition.

In a world that glorifies productivity and proactivity, many people have no time for much needed rest, despite being burnt out. The project challenges the notion that we must always be occupied, encouraging audiences to reflect on what it means to truly switch off.
