The Seed of the Sacred Fig is an extraordinary film that was shot entirely in secret in Tehran, before the director and key cast were forced to flee under threat of arrest by authorities. Since then, this dramatic thriller has been nominated for 80+ film awards including Academy Award for Best International Feature, a Golden Globe and the Palme D'Or.

The film is an urgent female empowerment story, ripped from real-life headlines of the Woman, Life, Freedom uprising in Iran. It includes real-life protest footage and focuses on the women of one family as they boldly challenge their father and husband, and their own cultural norms.
