Patch Me Happy

  • Free
  • Family and kids

Patches are a great way to personalise and bring new life to clothing that you already own. In this workshop, you’ll learn to make your own hand-embroidered patch. Use one of the designs provided or go wild and create your own.

Using soft felt as your base fabric, you’ll learn simple embroidery stitches with cotton thread. You'll learn the basics before exploring the different ways you can apply them to your own work to create an outlined or coloured-in design.

Class teacher Victoria will also guide you through transferring your design, choosing colour combinations, how to use an embroidery hoop and how to finish your patch edging.

You’ll come away from the session with a beautiful hand-stitched patch and instructions on how to attach your finished creation to your clothes at home.

Age: 14 to 25 years.

The City of Melbourne respectfully acknowledges the Traditional Owners of the land we govern, the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung and Bunurong / Boon Wurrung peoples of the Kulin and pays respect to their Elders past and present. We acknowledge and honour the unbroken spiritual, cultural and political connection they have maintained to this unique place for more than 2000 generations.
