Melbourne Youth Orchestra: Reformation, Romance & Rebellion

This concert by the Melbourne Youth Orchestra links Romanticism across the nineteenth, twentieth and twenty-first centuries - from Mendelssohn’s jubilant Reformation (Symphony No. 5), Miriama Young’s inventive Daughters of Elysium to Korngold’s spellbinding violin concerto featuring virtuosic soloist Louise Turnbull, and finally Shostakovich’s hymn of triumph, Symphony No. 5.

Conducted by Brett Kelly, this concert combines ideas of romance, reformation and rebellion in an exploration of the human condition.
