Entrance doorway to the Melbourne Club building showing its Victorian Renaissance style.

Melbourne Club

  • Heritage listed
  • Landmark

The Melbourne Club building is of architectural significance as a rare intact example of a 19th-century clubhouse.

It was built in 1858 in the Victorian Renaissance style, and contains a library, basement wine cellar, dining rooms, billiard rooms and accommodation. The rear garden, established in 1858, contains Victoria's largest, and most likely oldest, London plane tree.

This is a private social club and membership is by invitation only. Look out for the very occasional open days, such as Open Gardens.
