This workshop explores the craft of writing cyclical human stories such as birth, death, grief and love – the ‘tides’ that wash up on the shores of our lives. These topics touch us all, which might suggest they are easy to write, but in fact, the opposite is true: the more global a topic, the harder it is to capture. Themes such as loss, desire, joy and heartache are vulnerable to narrative pitfalls such as cliché, generalisation and over-analysis.
Participants who have previously attended writing workshops or have writing experience will benefit most from this workshop.
