Kate Perkins: Fleeting Perspectives of Melbourne

  • Free
  • Art

This project captures the sensory and surreal experience of traversing Melbourne’s streets, blending reality and imagination through in-camera double exposures. This approach adds layers of spontaneity and unpredictability, inviting viewers to pause and explore the intricate visual textures and rhythms that emerge.

Exploring abstraction and multi-layered approach through double exposure has deepened the artist's passion for capturing urban architecture in fresh, unexpected ways. The mix of careful composition and surprising, spontaneous elements reveals hidden layers that can delight, inspire, or even unsettle - each picture is a new adventure.

This photographic project captures the cityscapes of Melbourne's central business and Docklands areas. The large images are hung in the library window space to create an installation that represents Melbourne and allows viewers from the outside and inside to engage with a detailed view of the city.
