The act of making is at the heart of conceptual exploration in contemporary craft practice. Process can be understood as more than a means to create form but also a space where thought is reconciled, and where creative encounters and new discoveries are found.
This exhibition brings together four women artists - Emma Davies, Noriko Nakamura, Michaela Pegum and Makiko Ryujin - whose work demonstrates the power of the making process. From stone carving and woodworking to electroplating and textiles, each artist has developed a distinctive practice, working with their chosen materials as collaborators – alive with history and spirit.
