Emerging artist Lucy Mills debuts her newest body of work in Horse Costume Fight Scene, at West End Art Space.
This sequence of works was created from a dream in which two actors in an old-timey horse costume struggle to synergise and match movements, Their closeness is intimate and awkward as their coordination is worsening. The back foot treads on the front, The head and front legs jerk suddenly forward and detach. trying to find its feet, the front topples over and launches into the orchestra pit. The illusion breaks when the horse turns inside out, the two halves spilling out. the horse’s outside is tossed aside while the insides fight one another.
