Fanged, Skinned and Shrieking is a solo exhibition by acclaimed artist and writer Patrick Zaia. Comprised of large-scale drawings and sculptures, the exhibition explores the dark underbelly of human nature and desire, as expressed through the hybrid figure of the 'human-animal'.
Drawing upon myth, art history, philosophy and online subcultures, the exhibition meditates on the ways in which notions of 'animality' have been used to disrupt and oppose idealised conceptions of modern culture and society. By examining how artists and writers have mined and articulated the transgressive potential of the human-animal previously, the exhibition aims to illuminate its many resonances in our present-day culture.
