Proximate Worlds is a solo exhibition by David Mendelsohn, featuring interconnected bodies of work that explore themes of self-determination and artistic production.
David’s drawings and reproductions investigate the complex space between closeness and separation, through a lens of disability. This framework challenges traditional power dynamics of looking/being looked at, while exploring how bodies and experiences can be simultaneously near yet distinct. This exhibition asks how can art create proximity without appropriation, and what does it mean to look with rather than at?
This project is supported by the City of Melbourne Arts Grants. Arts Access Victoria proudly auspices Proximate Worlds. David Mendelsohn is represented by Arts Project Australia.
Opening Saturday 26 April, 2pm to 4pm. This is a free event, all welcome.
