Charting the Future: First Nations Knowledge and AI

Artificial Intelligence is already reshaping our world. But whose ethics, needs and perspectives is it serving? Could it become a powerful tool for combatting racism or climate change, if only held in the right hands?

In The AI (R)evolution, Associate Professor Jessica Russ-Smith and Professor Michelle D. Lazarus call for an approach to machine learning that is representative, grounded and just. Together, they invite you to consider the long arc of innovation in this country – from First Nations knowledge systems and sustainable technologies to the accelerating rise of AI.

Rather than seeing machine learning as something separate from us, this conversation reframes it as part of an ongoing story – one that could be guided by wisdoms far older than silicon. The result is a hopeful and timely vision of technology shaped in alignment with First Nations ways of knowing.

Hosted by Natasha Mitchell.
